*Criteria for induction into this hall: Current members of baseball’s Hall of Fame do not qualify. If a player from this list is eventually inducted into the HoF, he will henceforth be retired from the HoPIL (Greg Maddux will be an example in a few years.) Current members of the Chicago Cubs roster also do not qualify. They will be considered only after they retire or become part of another organization.
